Humanitarian Giving Project

Voices from the Heart is pleased to announce that Portsmouth Music & Arts Center is the winner of the Voices from the Heart 2023 donation to a local non-profit.

MISSION

To build community through the arts by providing all people with the opportunity to achieve their full creative potential, regardless of their age, ability, or economic status. We accomplish this through high quality music and visual arts education programs and by creating ensemble, performance, and exhibition opportunities for students, professionals, and audiences.

BUILDING COMMUNITY

Since our founding in 2002, the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center has successfully motivated and inspired thousands of music and art students of all ages. Our faculty’s commitment to the highest educational standards, combined with the passion and dedication of our students, is at the core of this success.

At PMAC we offer a wide variety of educational programs that meet the needs and aspirations of students of all ages and ability levels. Our teaching, regardless of musical genre or artistic medium, encourages the development of strong foundations. Our music curriculum has grown in recent years to include classical, jazz, blues, bluegrass, folk and rock, and many of our students explore other styles beyond our core curriculum. We frequently welcome guest artists who introduce students to a wide array of culturally diverse traditions. Our visual arts program focuses on strong foundations through a wide variety of media and cultural traditions. Our goal is always to provide the student with the opportunity to achieve their full creative potential

Our Vision: Voices from the Heart reaches across borders through music and compassionate support of communities.

Our Mission: Voices from the Heart builds community through our choral singing and support of philanthropic organizations. We seek to strengthen organizations that provide education, the arts, healthcare, economic stability and physical and emotional safety for women, children, and families.

Our Values:

  • Voices from the Heart sings world music that lifts and heals the human spirit.

  • Through our support, we strengthen and increase opportunities for women and children. We believe that when people have resources, they will know how to improve the lives of their families and communities.

  • Our philanthropy promotes and honors music, harmony, and peace. The chorus has traveled to Ireland, Croatia, Slovenia, Cuba, and South Africa.

  • We believe in coming from a place of compassion and loving kindness. We express this through songs in many languages, and through our philanthropy.
